Legend behind Shore temple
Shore temple is believed to be a collection of seven pagodas out of which only one exists now with other six under the ocean. The popular belief is that the gods of the ocean were jealous of humans decided to swallow six of the pagodas leaving only one for humans
The Shore Temple overlooks the shore of the Bay of Bengal. It was built at Mahabalipuram, when it was a busy port during the reign of Narasimhavarman II of the Pallava dynasty. It has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984.
