Lesser Known facts
1 Ram prasad Bismil’s father used to work in Shahjahanpur Municipality. He had limited earning and the family had to struggle to make both ends meet. Bismil actually had to quit his education very early after he completed his 8th standard.
2 Ram Prasad Bismil, Chandrasekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh and many other notable revolutionaries laid the foundation for Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA) in Delhi. In fact, Bismil drafted the constitution of the party in 1923.
3 Bismil planned to rob the treasure of british government along with his men. This treasure was being carried in a train and had to be robbed at Kakori, near Lucknow. The plan failed and led to unprecedented manhunt by british police. Ultimately, they arrested 40 revolutionaries.
4 Along with Roshan Singh, Ashfaqulla khan and Rajendra Lahiri, he was executed by british government on 19th December 1927.
5 A memorial for him which was named ‘Amar Shaheed Ram Prasad Bismil Smarak’ was built at his birthplace in Shahjahanpur city.
7 Indian Railway actually established a station and named it after him in his honour.
8 The friendship between Bismil and Ashfaqullah Khan was legendary and both of them became intimate friends despite being from different backgrounds.
9 He was also a follower of ‘Arya Samaj’ and drew a lot of inspiration from Satyarth Prakash which was a book written by Swami Dayanand Saraswati.
10 Ram Prasad bismil had a connection with Lala Har Dayal as well.
11 As a young man, he had also established a revolutionary organization called Matrivedi
12 He was honored by Government of Uttar Pradesh as well which had named a park after him near Rampur Jagir village. This is very close to the place where Bismil lived underground after Mainpuri conspiracy case.
