Mar 4- Bethune' College was established as a pioneer of women’s education in India.  It was founded in 1849 by John Elliot Drinkwater Bethune. In 1879, it was developed into first women's college in India.

His thoughts and acumen inspired many Indians living overseas in Canada and the USA to fight against British Imperialism.

4 Mar - The 1951 Asian Games, which were the first games organized from 4th to 11th March 1951. About 500 athletes participated in the program in 57 different events. The 1951 Asian games were scheduled for 1950, but were postponed till 1951 due to delays in preparation.

4 Mar- Commissioning of First Indian aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. The aircraft career played a key role during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. Although, the ship was built under the name ‘Hercules’ but the construction was put on hold after end of war and as a result it never entered service. India purchased the carrier in 1957 and construction was completed in 1961. After years of service, INS Vikrant was decommissioned in 1997 and preserved thereafter for 15 years till 2012.

5 March- Death anniversary of Jalal Aga, a famous Indian comedian and character actor. He was the son of popular comedian Agha and made his debut playing the young version of Dilip Kumar in the historical epic Mughal-E-Azam. He appeared in more than 60 Bollywood films.
